Travel Makeup Like a Pro

So if you keep up with my blog, you might have noticed that I enjoy traveling quite the bit with my "Thankful This Thanksgiving" post. In case you haven't seen it, I have since posted a "Travel Toiletry Bag" post. As kind of a final step in this travel series, I thought I would show you how I pack my travel makeup bag. Again, I do not like to pack my everyday items I use here at the house, I keep quite a bit of makeup packed away in my travel bag just for travel use. Unlike my travel toiletry bag where everything kind of stays the same, my travel makeup bag gets changed up most every trip. I always toss in extra lipsticks, lipglosses, eyeshadows, mascara, etc. However, I do keep certain things in there at all times, and thought I would show you how simple it is to keep a travel makeup bag (mostly) ready to throw in your suitcase and go.

This is the makeup bag I am currently using when traveling. I found it at Wal-Mart within the past year or so. It is by Caboodles and I LOVE it. As I mentioned in my previous blog post, I like travel bags that hang and have compartments. This bag has both of those features, so I can keep things really organized. Also, the material is kind of...hmm..slickedy(?) It wipes off with a damp rag really easily and stays looking like new. Love it.

Opened up showing the various compartments. In the main bottom compartment this is where I keep face products. These products NEVER come out of my travel bag. In here I ALWAYS keep:
-Neutrogena Healthy Skin Foundation #60
-Maybelline Mineral Power Concealer
-Ben Nye Banana Powder (in a Bare Minerals sifter jar)
-Beauty Blender

In the next compartment up, this is my face/cheek compartment. Items that ALWAYS stay here:
-Sleek Face Form in Light
-MAC MSF in Soft & Gentle
-Benefit High Beam

In this front compartment I keep eye products. I have oodles of travel eyeshadow primers that have came with various eyeshadow palettes (Balm Nude'tude, UD Naked, Lorac PRO Palette, etc), Birchboxes, New Beauty Test Tubes, Sephora perks, etc., and I always keep one of those in here. I never wear black eyeliner on my bottom lash line, I always wear a color of some sort. Since I am a brown-eyed girl, I almost always go with purple, green, or brown. My favorite green eyeliner of ALL time is UD 24/7 in Junkie. I have numerous backups of this, and ALWAYS keep a travel size one in here. Favorite purple - NYX Slide on Pencil in Purple Blaze. I have the world's most sensitive eyes and CANNOT wear black liner in my water line. It kills my eyes. I strictly wear a nude liner (if anything) and can only wear the Rimmel one. Everything else makes my eyes water and I look like I am 3 sheets to the wind my eyes are so bloodshot. Must haves in this section are:
-UD 24/7 Junkie Eyeliner
-NYX Slide on Pencil in Purple Blaze
-Travel Eyeshadow Primer
-Rimmel ScandalEYES Waterproof Kohl Kajal liner in Nude
-Travel pencil sharpener
-Elf Brow Kit in Medium
-Maybelline Define-A-Brow in medium brown

In this top section I keep my travel makeup brushes, eyeshadows, etc. In the inside zipper pocket of this top compartment I keep a lip balm (Wetn'Wild pictured) and travel size perfumes. As far as what never changes:
-Sigma Travel Brush set
-UD Naked Basics Palette
-Too Faced Glamour To Go Palette
-Elf "Classy" lipstick
-Q-tips (travel case)
-Travel size Makeup Setting Spray (Skindinavia No More Shine pictured)

My travel brushes. I added a few Eco-tools travel brushes, one Bdellium pencil brush, an F80 foundation brush, and a Revlon duo brush. The Bdellium brush is the ONLY brush I do my brows with, it's PERFECT. I have one for home one for travel. Same goes with the F80 and the Revlon brushes. The Revlon one is PERFECT for the tear duct highlight, and I NEVER do foundation that it is not applied with an F80. Never, no matter what. When I get back home from a trip, I wash/dry all my brushes, put them back in their brush guards and pack them back in my bag for the next trip. Works out beautifully.

Current travel perfumes in my bag: Taylor Swift rollerball, Burberry Brit, Coach, Marc Jacobs Daisy. Since this pic was taken I have also added my deluxe size sample of Christian Dior Addict that I got with my 500pt perk from Sephora. I have SO many perfume samples, these are great for traveling. I keep them in a drawer in one of my organizers and when I empty the ones in my travel bag I just toss a few more in.

So like I said, all of these items basically stay in my travel makeup bag and NEVER come out. I have duplicates of all these for home use, that way I never have to unpack all of this stuff. Mascara is usually something that always has to be added. As well as other eyeshadows or liners I might want to be using. Other items that I throw in here that are great for travel basically include anything that has multiple products in one package. Some of those are:

*It Cosmetics Vitality Face Disc

*Sleek Face Contour Kit in medium

*Elf Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powders

Pictured: (all of them) Blushed and Bronzed, St. Lucia, Antigua, and Turks & Caicos

*Any of the cheek palettes from Nars. Gives you so many options for different looks on a trip. (Yay for Piper making it in the pic!)

Hope this post gives you some ideas on packing the perfect travel makeup bag! Let me know any of your tips or something you've thought of that I haven't. I appreciate the constant flow of support from my viewers and I thank you for stopping by today. Come back again soon!
