NOTD: Essie Lots Of Lux

Absolutely gorgeous blue polish. One coat = COMPLETE opacity. Only thing you need to know, it is such a rough polish. It has crazy amounts of glitter and sparkle, and it feels like sandpaper. I put two coats of top coat on it and while it feels much smoother, you can definitely still feel slight roughness. The gorgeous color payoff, I think, is totally worth it! Ciao!

Pantone 2014 Radiant Orchid: Clothing And Makeup Ideas

As many of you already know, Pantone's color of the year for 2014 is Radiant Orchid. I don't think anyone could've been happier with that choice, I've always adored purple-fuscia-pink tones.  The color orchid is usually a bright purple and can range from a greyish purple to a purplish pink.  So to me, finding clothing/makeup/accessories that will be on-trend will be fairly easy. I think as long as it's in the purple family it will be great!  I'm not going to go into too much detail about these things. These are just items I have that I plan on using a lot in 2014. You'll see there is no need to go out and buy a bunch of new stuff, you'd be surprised if you just go pilfering how much you can come up with that will work just fine.   I tried to include a bag, a couple of clothing items, shoes, accessories, and some makeup products. Keep in mind that due to poor lighting, lack of using a flash, and the fact that these were all taken with my phone, the color of these products didn't all turn out 100% accurately. But they did enough for you to get the gist.

Clothing Ideas:

Fair-Isle Tunic from Gap

Neon Purple Skinny Jeans from Old Navy

Maurice's top with every shade of purple imaginable. You can't fail with something like this!

Accessory Ideas:

Long statement necklace from Walmart

Citrus Crush Pendant Necklace from Baublebar

Bow Bangle from Target

Bag/Purse Idea:

Foley+Corinna Bag

I found this a few years ago on HSN. At that time I wanted a new bag and had VERY specific things I wanted. I wanted leather, big, bright, comfy on the shoulder, and for it to be a one piece.  No straps, all one piece, like a doughnut. This one had everything I wanted. I've loved it since day one, and it is the perfect color for 2014.

It has a plain, flat front. The backside has a zipper with a fringe.  (The color looks a little off in some of these photos, sorry).

The big shoulder strap has a zipper with a fringe too, if you want two straps you simply unzip it. This big, soft strap is so comfy.

This bag is huge. Zippers on both sides inside. (Here you can see the color more accurately).

This just goes to show you, if you invest in quality made genuine products, they can last you for years. I don't remember how much I paid for this exactly, but similar bags around this size run between $395-$500 on HSN's website. I know that sounds like a lot, but I believe you get what you pay for. Plus, they are on easy pay!

Essie Under Where?

(Under Where? is what I was wearing in this photo)

When thinking about orchid-ish shades of lipstick, keep in mind that numerous shades will work. If something is a little too pink, add a more purple hued lipgloss on top.  Or mix two colors, or use a lipliner that adjusts the color accordingly. Possibilities in this category are endless. Here are some items I plan on wearing.

 (a pastel lilac/orchid)

 (a pinky fuscia)

 (definitely a more pinky/mauve)

 (more pink with orchid shimmers)

Buxom lipgloss in Rachel

Milani 3D Glitzy Gloss in Fashion Diva

Revlon lipgloss in Lilac Pastelle
(this light purple gloss over top the right lipstick could give the perfect orchid shade)

Other Makeup Ideas:

If you glance through your makeup you'll see various purple shades in your collection. Once you blend colors out and put the finishing touches on your eye looks, all you're looking for is that hint of color. Any and all of these could give you that. Another palette that could really come in handy this year:

WNW Petal Pusher Palette

Alrighty, that just about does it. Like I said, I think following the 2014 Radiant Orchid trend will be quite easy. You can't go wrong with purpley-fuscias. All you have to do is incorporate one or two of these to your daily looks (too much and we would look Barney-ish...def not the look we are aiming for hahaha)!  So let me know what things you've got for this new trend, and as always, thanks for taking time out of your day to stop by.

Sunglasses: Storage And Favorites

Hey guys!  Maybe it's the extremely cold weather we've been having or just simply boredom, but I've had sunny skies and warm weather wear on the brain this week. An accessory that I am obsessed with is sunglasses. Always have been. I love everything from classic wayfarers to funky designed weird and wacky ones. They're so fun and yet functional at the same time. I thought I'd show you how I organize mine, and share with you my top 3 favorite pairs.

I found this display a couple of years ago from amazon (I think).  It is one of the best organization items I have ever purchased. (If you know me at all you are aware of my obsession with organization).  This holder turns so you can easily find and grab whatever pair of glasses you want.  It's tall and skinny and takes up hardly any space. It was fairly cheap if I remember correctly...if I had to guess if say $30ish?  Keep in mind this is not all of my sunglasses. I am horrible for keeping them ALL over the place. I keep 1-2 pairs in my bag.  I keep one pair in my sunglass holder in my truck, as well as an additional pair on a viser clip in case anyone riding with me needs a pair. There's also usually a pair or two in my junk basket on the kitchen table, in various drawers and baskets here and there where I've taken off a pair and not put them back where they belong, etc.  As far as brands go, I have dirt cheap sunglasses and I have fairly expensive sunglasses. I wear them all, whatever I want, wherever I want, whenever I want. I don't baby them or put them away for special occasions. I wear them all the same and love some of my cheap ones just as much as the $$$ ones.  Pictured in the organizer there are:  Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Target, Urban Outfitters, Planet Blue, Aeropostale, Amazon, etc.  Now I will talk about my favorite 3 pairs of glasses that I own.

My Dior Glossy 1 glasses. My favorite color for ANYTHING is white. (Clothes, cars, anything).  So naturally I am ALWAYS drawn to white glasses. I think they are so chic. These glasses are not a stark white, they are more a creamy white. I bought these probably 10 years ago or so. I've had them FOREVER.  Back when I got them, the only person I had ever seen wearing them was Paris Hilton and I fell in love with them.

As time went on lots of celebs wore them, and they ended up coming out with every color under the rainbow.

You can find various shades for decent prices nowadays, but good luck finding this creamy color anymore. I looked online to show you guys where you might be able to get them and didn't find them. Back when I got them I remember they were as much as my rent ( which was $500 at the time).  You can find these now for about $200 for brown, tan, black, bright white, etc.

(Excuse the bed head. I snapped these photos without as much as even brushing my hair, hehe)

I know big glasses are not everyone's cup of tea, but I love them. Love, love, love them.  Funny fact...I have a turned up pug nose. It's a fairly small nose, with a deep slope, and glasses barely sit on it. They slide down the bridge of my nose all the way to the turned up tip. So, glasses barely hang on my face. Ahh who cares, I sport them anyways! Ha!

Prada Boroque Glasses.  How gorgeous is the scroll on the sides!!!  The case is so nice and luxe, with a slight magnetic closure on the lid. Love. The first time I ever spotted these,  Shayne Lamas from The Bachelor and Couples Therapy was always wearing them.

I fell in love and simply had to have them. I got mine at Nordstrom and they are still available. For some reason my links are not working on my blog, so I did a screen shot with my phone to show you. (Sorry)

Big, round, and glamorous. How I love these. However, I found almost exact dupes of these expensive frames on Amazon. I bought my mom a pair and bought myself a pair of black and tortoise.  They are made JUST like the Prada ones for a fraction of the price (try less than $10).  You can see just how similar.  The only difference is the cheap pair doesn't say 'Prada' on them, obviously.  And one thing I need to mention. Authentic, expensive plastic sunglasses tend to be heavy and durable. With the whole nose thing I've got going on, that only adds to the whole slipping down off my nose thing. One thing I LOVE about the knockoffs is that they are lighter, which for me, turns out to be a plus that they are cheaper made. They stay up on my nose better. And, if I put them on top of my head they are less likely to slide off. Love that about them.

Pictured:  black and tortoise knockoffs.

And, of course, my Ray Bans. So classic, so timeless. I've mentioned these before, I got them the last time I was in Vegas. Will forever love these.

Alright guys, that pretty much does it for my sunglasses. Let me know what your must-haves are!  Ciao!
