Oily Skin Beauty Products (Primers, BB and CC Creams)

Hey guys!  I showed a picture the other day of the Neutrogena Shine Control Primer and Powder. Welllllll, if you can't tell by looking, I totally love the stuff. Had to grab me another one for my travel bag and a backup. I have reallllllly oily skin and this really helps. I can honestly say I am so relieved I have a product like this for summer.   I got these at Walmart and they were about $11/each. I also picked up a Becca Ever Matte Poreless Priming Perfector.

This stuff is great. It has a little bit of an odd texture, you basically just warm up a pea size amount with your fingertips and pat it on your face. After I pat it on I kind of lightly rub everything in and voilĂ  - no oil to speak of.  It's supposed to minimize pores (I can tell it does somewhat) and keep oil at bay or 12 hours. It better, cause it cost $36 from Sephora.

I've never really been a BB or CC cream kinda gal. I'm just so oily, and a matte-type formula foundation usually does better for me. There are very few tinted moisturizers I use as well, simply because I tend to look like a grease ball.  Well, say hello to my little friend. The It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream.  It's a paraben free full coverage CC cream with a physical only (no chemical) 50 SPF, an anti-aging serum, dark spot corrector, pore minimizing primer, a moisturizing day cream, vitamins, extracts, algae, collagen, soothing botanicals, and more.  This stuff is just, well, amazing.

Mine is in the shade medium. There are 5 shades available on the It Cosmetics website (where I bought mine).  It goes on and blends easily and flawlessly, and dries to a matte finish. This stuff is GREAT for oily gals. It doesn't give you a made up mask face, but it's full coverage and, gosh, just so great!

The packaging is really nice, the pump dispenser is so handy.  You get 1.08 fluid ounces for $38.  Expensive yes, but worth it for what all you're getting if you ask me.

And believe it or not, I found a great BB cream that is totally wearable at the drugstore!  The Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream for combination to oily skin.  This was $11 at Walmart for a 2oz bottle.  So, much more pocket friendly than the It Cosmetics product. Also, this one has an SPF of 20, as opposed to 50 in the other one.  It claims to mattify your skin, minimize pores, conceal imperfections, hydrate and protect.  Overall I probably like the It Cosmetics CC Cream the best, if comparing the two. It has so many wonderful ingredients for your skin and looks so good on. You really can't go wrong with that one.

Hope you found this helpful!  If you have any questions just let me know!  Thanks for stopping by!

NOTD: OPI Alpine Snow

It's official, I'm obsessed with white nails. Alpine Snow can be a little difficult to apply, but the end result is worth the effort!  <3333

A Year Ago Today....

(Me with my parents circa 1980.  Butcher Hollow, Kentucky)

A year ago today, my father left this world and went to Heaven. Our relationship here on earth was a troubled one, and is a constant battle I still struggle with.  His passing solidified the fact we would never have the chance to have the relationship I always wanted.

I hope you are resting peacefully.

Orly Dayglow

I am on day 5 of my manicure (Orly Dayglow), and while it's starting to show some wear and tear, it still looks pretty good. I used Revlon Gel Base Coat and Out The Door Top Coat. Totally loving this chic white polish that is on trend for spring. Ciao!

Spring 2014 Trend: Orange Lipstick (Top 5)

Hi guys!  The other day I posted a few pics from my People Stylewatch magazine for Spring 2014 beauty trends:

(Piper-dog enjoying some reading with me! Yay!) Today I am going to specifically talk about the first trend mentioned in the magazine:  orange lipstick.

I went through all my lipsticks and picked out my top 5 favorite orange hues.  All of them are drugstore except for one, so really affordable options here.

1.  Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Rendezvous
  2.  Maybelline COLORsensational Vivid Lipstick in Electric Orange
3.  Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti

Orange lipstick doesn't get any better!  These colors are so gorgeous!  I tried to take some photos of each one on me. I don't know if it's where I was wearing a red t-shirt or just my lighting or my camera or what, but they all showed up kinda red in the photographs. I'll include them anyway, to give you an idea how they look.

As far as recommendations go, if you are nervous about wearing orange and going really bright and bold, definitely go for the balm stain or the lip butter. That way you get a hint of orange but it's not so IN YOUR FACE. If you're wanting just a nice orange lipstick, but not too bold, go for the Maybelline or the Revlon Siren. Both are just such perfect, gorgeous shades. But,  if you are wanting a KAPOW - straight up orange, bright, bold and really vivid, go for the MAC one. It's really bright.  As far as my #1 favorite out of these, I'd probably have to go with the Maybelline Electric Orange. Although the Revlon Siren is a VERY close second.

Hope this gives you some ideas!  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

New Random Beauty Goodies

Hey guys!  Just a few new goodies from the drugstore (and online)!

Nivea has excellent products period, but their lip treatments are just superb. This olive oil and lemon one is scrumptious and makes your lips baby soft. Also picked me up an Orly Dayglow polish. So chic!

I've been seeing these new hair products by Loreal in several of my magazines. I grabbed two at Walmart, Boost It and Txt It.  Can't wait to try them.  I love big, sexy, voluminous hair, and tousled/texturized hair is in for 2014.  (And a lot easier than actually fixing your hair!)

Yellow high def powder from Elf. I am naturally olive toned, but I have rosacea. This yellow powder can be your best friend in color correcting!

I only had one of the Elf small stiple brushes, and sometimes you need more than that. I use these for cream products. Now I've got one for blushes, one for bronzers, and one for highlighters.

Elf Makeup Lock & Seal.  I seriously don't remember ordering this. (Much less ordering two of it!!!) Basically you get this little cap, put some of this makeup lock stuff in it, smush your brush in it, then apply your pigments or glitters or what have you. It's supposed to help with products that generally have a lot of fall-out. We will see!  I got all the Elf stuff from their website

I have all of the Balm blushes, one is in my travel bag, but I NEVER use them. Don't know why, I just never reach for these. So, I don't know what made me get another one...

But I did grab one of their Instain blushes, this one is in Toile. I hear a lot of good things about it. Can't wait to use it and see how good it is. I don't remember right off where I got this, I know I ordered it online though.

Makeup Geek shadow in Shimma Shimma. Okay, how cute is the packaging?  I couldn't get past that!  I got this from the Makeup Geek website, and their shadows are really reasonably priced, like 5 or 6 dollars a piece,  something like that.

It Cosmetcs Vitality Lip Flush in Je Ne Sais Quoi.  Yes, YouTube made me buy it. It's a funny product.  It looks like a Chapstick or something, but it dries to a really pretty deeper pink stain. Love this!

Great for the oily skinned gal like myself - the Neutrogena Shine Control Primer and Powder. They are made with a rice protein complex, they feel and smell really great.  Reallyyyyyy helps with oil, LOVE.  Found mine at Walmart!

Maybelline clear mascara. So much cheaper than my Anastasia brow gel, and works just fine!

Picked up another Passionate Spell body wash, cause it be one of my faves!  Also seen this Burnt Brown Sugar flavor. Smells sooooo nice!  It's also nice and gritty but still lathers up really well to exfoliate your bod. Love Caress body washes!

Alright guys, that does it for now!  The house is smelling sooo nice.  It's turning back a little coolish here in Kentucky, it supposed to be in the 20's tonight. Soooo, be got some crockpot chili cookin and it is making my mouth water! Gonna top it with some chips (or oyster crackers, I've not decided), cheese, and sour cream.  Sure to warm you up on a cold night (if Juan Pablo doesn't, that is!) Hehe.  Have a great week, guys!  Muaahh!

My Makeup Storage and Collection

Hey guys! As some of you might know, I finally got my new makeup vanity!  It took two trips to Ikea in West Chester, Ohio to get everything, but I finally have it.  On my first trip to get everything they were out of my Malm Dressing Table. So on the day I was actually able to get it, I called ahead to see if they had any in stock. They had 3 and were expecting all of them to be gone by the end of the day.  (It was Presidents' Day and they were very busy).  They reluctantly held me one, after I explained I lived close to 4 hours away and didn't want to waste a trip to get there and them not have any (again).

They said they would hold one for 4 hours for me, I literally through on some clothes and a dab of makeup and was on the road.

Little did they know I was secretly like...'if I get there and you don't have my table I will have to hurt you' lol.

When I got back home that evening I was so happy to see my Vanity Girl Hollywood Mirror had been delivered.

I came straight in and put everything together (by myself!!), hung my mirror (it comes with a stand but I decide to do the wall mount for extra desk space), and got everything situated. I was so tired but so excited to finally have a vanity!!!

I love organizing, and it was so fun going through all my stuff and putting things where I want them. I have got rid of piles and piles and piles of makeup. If I don't like it or use it, I am slowly getting rid of it. I want everything I have to be stuff I love and use regularly. Here's my mama another bag of goodies!

I went ahead and filmed a makeup collection and storage video. It took quite a while, so keep that in mind if you want to watch it. (It lasts 27 minutes!) Also, I was having trouble out of my DSLR camera, so I skipped it and used my Canon Elph. Turned out okay, but not the quality my Canon Rebel is capable of. Always technical difficulties with me! Anyways, editing may not be superb, but you get the idea of what I have with the video. If I forgot anything or if you have any questions just let me know. Thanks for watching and have a great day!
