Destin, Florida Road Trip!!!

Hey guys!  We just got back night before last from a road trip down south.  We RARELY drive anywhere, so it was definitely something kind of different for us.  We ended up having such a good time, fun all along the way.  So, I thought I'd share some pics of our adventure.  If you're not one for traveling, I highly encourage you to get out and see this beautiful world that we live in.  Sight-seeing and vacationing is one of my greatest passions in life.  I've been blessed to see a lot of places, and I hold each one of those memories in my heart <3

We own a condo in Destin, but we haven't been down to personally use it for about 10 years.  We've been traveling abroad more and just haven't took the time I don't guess.  So anyways, it was good to go back down and check things out.  From where we live it's about an 11 hour drive, so we stopped the first night in Montgomery, Alabama.

When we woke up the next morning it was actually storming and raining there, so we didn't get to see as much as we planned.  We did go to the cemetery where Hank Williams, Sr. is buried and we also stopped by Martin Luther King, Jr.'s home.  Both really neat things to check out if you're ever in the area!

The Pensacola Bay Bridge, absolutely gorgeous views here.

Dinner at the Marina Cafe when we first arrived into Destin.  Delicious food, gorgeous scenery.

Their coconut cream pie is to die for FYI.

Another one of our favorite places to eat - McGuire's Irish Pub.  We ate here 3 times that week!  If I had to recommend one thing on their menu, definitely try their filet.  One of the best steaks I have had in a while.

Out by the mall there's this new bowling alley called the Fish Bowl.  It's great there!  It was thundering and threatening to rain one evening, so we opted for an indoor activity (it never did actually rain though.)  Their pizza and flatbreads were delicious and we had a blast!

One of the most beautiful beaches in the world!  Destin's powdery white sand and blue-green waters are spectacular.  I've been on beaches all around this world, from Hawaii to St. Tropez, France to Barcelona, Spain and I have to say, it's really hard to beat the views here on Florida's panhandle.

But first, let me take a #beachselfie

The one tshirt I knew I couldn't leave town without picking up.  Hog's Breath, baby!

A total hidden gem on the gulf in Florida, the Gulf Zoo!  You don't hear much about this place, and we saw only 1 sign for it.   When we pulled in the parking lot there were only 4 cars.  That's it.  But once we went inside, it was great!  The animals are all super friendly and you are really close to them all.  We both agree this was probably our favorite part of the trip.  (We really love animals!)

My goodness, I fell in LOVE with this giraffe!  He was an absolute cutie.

I tried my best to entice him with a piece of food, lol.  This was as close as we got to a kiss, hehe.

Of all the things this little birdie wanted to snack on, he picked $400 Tom Ford shades, lol.  It was so cute I didn't even mind :-)

This is the life.

I'm a Kentucky girl in and out, I love the mountains.  But, I absolutely love the beach as well.  Sighhhhhh.

Typical fare....jumbo lobster tails and a fresh brewed root beer.  #yummo

Sunset <3

After a fun-filled week in paradise it was time to make our journey home.  This was the hottest we had seen all week, 99 degrees!

What better way to pass the time on the road than with a little YouTube!!!

I was actually driving when we crossed back into Kentucky, so I wasn't able to snap a pic of that sign.  All in all it was a PERFECT trip and we had such a great time.  Go see these picturesque beaches if you get the chance!  Thanks for stopping by and have a great week everybody!!!!
