Top 100 Favorite Songs Of Life!

Music is such a HUGE part of my life, and so much of who I am.  I can hear a song and I am immediately transported to a specific time in my life.  Music is so powerful and can evoke more emotion than almost anything else.  I actually keep two radios playing in my house 24 hours a day - one in my kitchen window and one in my beauty room (both are tuned to a country station).  After much pondering I have compiled a list of my very favorite songs.  100 of my favorite songs.  This was no small feat - I have SO many more songs that could have made the list but, these are the ones that came out on top.  I love every genre of music and you will see that in this list.  I love real music, musicians and singers who write and produce just really good music.  There's nothing like raw talent. Christian music will not be included in this particular list, it is deserving of a list all it's own, and I may do it next.
My only fear in posting this is that I will suddenly think of a song that I hadn't thought of when compiling this list.  I have given it so much thought, and I have pretty much paired it down to these.  The entire list is not in order really, but the first 8 definitely are.  After that I just listed songs as I thought of them.  So anyways, here we go.  Enjoy.
1.  Leather and Lace : Don Henley and Stevie Nicks

My favorite duet of life.  I love everything about it, the sweet tune of the song, his voice, her voice, I like it all.  Don Henley's verse is actually my favorite part.
...you in the moonlight, with your sleepy eyes, could you ever love a man like me...

2.  As Tears Go By : The Rolling Stones

I first began really loving this song when I heard it on Nip/ Tuck yearsssss ago, and it has been a full-on love affair ever since.
...all I hear is the sound, of rain falling on the ground...I sit and watch as tears go by...

3.  I Love a Rainy Night : Eddie Rabbitt

When I was a little girl I had a Chipmunks record and this song was my favorite one on it.  Rain is my favorite, I'd rather see it than sunshine.  It's so peaceful and makes me so happy. (It was raining when I was born actually).  Maybe that explains why I love this so much.
...I love a rainy night, you can see it in my eyes, I love a rainy night, it makes me high, I love a rainy night, and I love you too...

4.  Baby, I Love Your Way : Peter Frampton

When I was in high school I would get ready every morning while listening to the radio and there was a local radio station that would play this quite often.  I fell butt-crazy in love with it.  This was way before iTunes and right before the internet, so finding music could be kind of difficult, especially if the songs were older.  One of my friends in my PE class let me borrow her tape and I loved it so much she ended up telling me to just keep it.  I still have it to this day.  For yearssssss I listened to this song every single day of my life.  My favorite part is at the end (4:03 to 4:18 mark) when there is a kick in the beat.
...ooh baby I love your way, everyday...wanna tell you I love your way...

5.  Like a Rolling Stone : Bob Dylan

I have heard this song my whole life and have ALWAYS enjoyed it.  There was a movie I used to watch when I was little that had it on it and I looooooved it.  Just a couple of years ago I went on a European vacation and was able to tour most of Italy.  I'll never forget sitting on that bus while we made our way to our next destination, listening to this on my iPhone.  A world away from home, under the Tuscan sun , a moment of pure bliss.  The second I hear this I am immediately transported to that peaceful, perfect moment.
...ah, how does it feel...to be on your own, with no direction home...a complete unknown, like a rolling stone...

6.  I'm Goin Down : Bruce Springsteen

Whenever I am asked my favorite artist of all time without hesitation I answer with "The BOSS."  If you've never been to one of his concerts, then do yourself a favor and just go.  Both he and his band are so talented, tons of people doing something they love, there's horns/drums/guitars/you name it.  Crazy, crazy good.  This is my favorite one he does.
...I pull you close now baby, but when we kiss I can feel a doubt...I remember back when we started, my kisses used to turn you inside out...

7.  You're Only Lonely : J.D. Souther

His gentle voice, the piano that gives me chills, words can't describe how much I love this song.  My favorite part is the whole ending with all the piano.
...when the world is ready to fall, on your little shoulders...you can call out my name, when you're only lonely...

8.  Thunder Road : Bruce Springsteen

My other favorite by The Boss.  I sing this word for word as loud as I can every single time I hear it.  I can picture it so clearly in my head...
...a screen door slams, Mary's dress waves..like a vision she dances across the porch as the radio plays...

9.  All Too Well : Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift rocks.  There could have been SO many more of her songs on this list, I absolutely adore her and her music.  This one is my very favorite though.  I was lucky enough to be in the audience of her last performance on her Red tour in Nashville, TN.  To see her thrashing her head back and forth while singing this and playing the piano....priceless.
....there we are again in the middle of the night, we dance around the kitchen in the refrigerator light...

10.  Bring It On Home : Sam Cooke

Do I need to say anything to this one?  So raw, so emotional, music at it's best.
...if you ever change your mind, about leaving, leaving me behind....bring it to me, bring your sweet loving, bring it on home to me, yeah....

11.  The Tide is High : Blondie

You literally cannot play this and sit still.  Nor can you play this and be in a bad mood.  It's just so fun and beachy, and it is my #1 favorite song to sing in the car.
...I'm gonna be your number 1 your, number 1...

12.  In Too Deep : Genesis

Phil Collins gives me chills in the best way possible.  This is my favorite he's ever done.  The softness in his voice, oh the emotion it evokes.
...now listen, you know I love you but I just can't take this, you know I love you but I'm playing for keeps...

13.  Texas Tornado : Tracy Lawrence

One of my favorite country songs of life.  It's so dang sweet.
...I sworn it wouldn't happen again, but I looked at you and then...

14.  Joey : Concrete Blonde

This.  Woman's.  Voice.  It resonates in me!  So much emotion, I absolutely adore this song.  My mama loves it too, I can remember way back in the day riding in the car with her and we both sang to the top of our lungs.  I remember her saying this song was "so beautiful."  Yes it is.
...and if I seem to be confused, I didn't mean to be with you...and when you said I scared you, well I guess you scared me too...

15.  Electric Avenue : Eddie Grant

I was 3 when this song was released, and I have basically loved it ever since.  I can still remember the video with him sitting on the couch and the room filling with water.  Haha.  That beat, though!  Definitely love to jam to this in the car.  My favorite part is when the beat drops at the 3:15-3:20 mark.
...oh, we gonna rock down to Electric Avenue, and then we'll take it higher...

16.  No More : Ruff Endz

Back in the days when burning cd's was so popular, this was on like every single one of mine.  You can totally rock out to this.  Pop this on the next time you're in the car.  Sounds so darn good coming through your speakers.
...does he lace you with the finer things, does he make you wanna scream his name...

17.  Superstition : Stevie Wonder

I know I've already said it a dozen times, but omgsh, the beat of this song is unlike any other.  You talk about rocking out in your car, put this on, turn it up, and there's no way you won't be groovin.
...when you believe in things that you don't understand, then you suffer, superstition ain't the way, no no no...

18.  Since You're Gone : The Cars

The Cars is one of my favorite bands of life.  I love sooooooo many of their songs, but this one is definitely my favorite.
...since you're gone, I missed the peak sensation...since your gone, I took the big vacation...

19.  Back on the Chain Gang : The Pretenders

Chrissie Hynde is one of the best female rockers ever.  There's never been a rock song with a female lead that I love more.
...I found a picture of you...those were the happiest days of my life...

20.  Jessie : Joshua Kadison

Gosh o' mighty.  I was in grade school when this came out and I was obsessed.  One of the best songs of that decade.  And, I always wanted to name a cat Moses because of this song, lol.
...Jessie paint your pictures, about how it's gonna be...

21. Oh No : The Commodores

I was raised on really good music, and this is one of the tunes I heard a lot during my childhood.  So emotional, so easy and beautiful.  Lionel Ritchie is one of my favorite artists ever.
...I want you to want me, I'm going crazy knowing he will be your lover tonight...I'm goin' crazy with love, over you...

22.  Somebody : Bryan Adams

Bryan Adams is crazy good and his best hit has to be this one.  Start to finish it is a total jam sesh.  Out of all the songs in the world this is the one I want to sling my hair around when I listen to it.
....I need somebody, somebody like you...

23.  Out of Your Shoes : Lorrie Morgan

Let me just put it this way, you probably don't want to be in the car with me and my mom if this comes on.  We literally sing it as loud as we can.  One of the best country music songs in history.  Every last thing about it is perfection.
...I'd love to be out of your shoes tonight, to be the one turnin' him on when he turns out the light...under your skin, lying with him when he holds you tight....

24.  EI : Nelly

I'll never forget the first time I heard Nelly.  He had just released Country Grammar (another fave of mine) and I fell hardcore in love with this dude.  I still have a soft spot for him and he will always be one of my faves.  EI - another perfect song to cruise to.
...andale andale mama EI EI uh-ohhh...

25.  Tender is the Night : Jackson Browne

This so takes me back to a summer with my cousin Whitney.  We were hanging out with a group of friends one night and they played this and from that night on we jammed to this almost every single day.  Life was so simple and just getting started really.  Love the happy feeling I get listening to this.
....tender is the night, when you hold your baby tight..tender are the motions, tender is the night...

26.  Stay : Jackson Browne

This is just one of those feel good songs.   I adore the music in this song, and Jackson's soulful voice is unmatched to this day.
...no, your daddy don't mind...and your mama don't mind...

27.  Suspicious Minds : Dwight Yoakam

It is an extremely rare occasion when I like a remake better than an original, especially when the original is by The KING, Elvis Presley.  But I have to say, I actually do like Dwight Yoakam's version of this song a little better.  I love the video with him and the girl standing back to back out in the desert, I love everything about this.  Will go down in history as one of my favorite FAVORITE songs of life.
...we're caught in a trap, I can't walk out, because I love you too much baby...

28.  Hiding My Heart Away : Adele

Adele's perpetually sorrowful, soulful voice fills her music with so much emotion.  I first heard this song on Pretty Little Liars, and I immediately went and downloaded it and have basically had it on repeat ever since.  Best one she's ever done, and she's done so SO many great ones.
...I wish I could lay down beside you when the day is done, and wake up to your face against the morning sun...but like everything I've ever known, you'll disappear one day, so I spend my whole life hiding my heart away...

29.  Postcard From Paris : The Band Perry

The twang in her voice, the easy music, this song is flat out awesome.  And, if I was able to sing a lick, this would be the song I would without a doubt do on karaoke night.  Love, love, love.
...the meanest thing you ever did is come around, and now I'm ruined...

30.  I Wouldn't Have Missed It For the World : Ronnie Milsap

Ronnie Milsap, you just get it right.  Every dang time.  This song, this song is PERFECTION.  I sing it to the top of my lungs every single time I hear it, and if it comes on the radio when we're in the car I'm literally clapping my hands and bouncing up and down in my seat.  Love it soooooo much.
....I wouldn't have missed it for the world, wouldn't have missed loving you girl, you've made my whole life worth while, with your smile...I wouldn't trade one memory, cause you mean too much to me, even though I lost you girl, I wouldn't have missed it for the world....

31.  Red Red Wine : UB40

I think it's the beat that I love so much with this one.  It takes me right back to grade school, such a happy time and place.
...red red wine, stay close to me...

32.  Little Red Corvette : Prince

Prince is a legend.  He has had so many good songs, but this one takes the cake for me.  Another one of my favorites to listen to in the car.  So good start to finish.
...move over baby and give me the keys, I'm gonna try to tame your little red love machine...

33. Late at Night : Buffalo Tom

My So Called Life was my life when I was in high school.  Jordan Catalano was everythingggggg.  My favorite episode was the one where Jordan goes up to Angela and asks her if she wants to go somewhere, and then he holds her hand as they walk down the hallway.  This is the song that was playing during that scene.  I loved it SO much.  Granted, this was in the days before internet, before google, before iTunes, and I had no idea what the song was called.  I thought that it was probably by Buffalo Tom, because they talk about the group in the episode.  But, I had no clue what cd it was on or what it was called.  I went to the Fayette Mall in Lexington (KY) and on a wing and a prayer bought this cd hoping it was on it.  They had 2 or 3 to choose from, but somehow I magically picked the right one.  I listened to that cd NONSTOP for the next decade.  Funny, I've never met a single person in my life who likes Buffalo Tom or has mentioned this song, and yet it's one of my all-time faves.
...I'd do it if I could, I hope you know I would...

34.  Cry To Me : Solomon Burke

Dirty Dancing was such a huge part of my childhood, I watched it every single day the summer after it had been released.  This was my favorite song from the soundtrack.  So sexy.
...well here I am honey, c'mon, cry to me...

35.  Summer Nights : John Travolta and Olivia Newton John

The other movie of my childhood was Grease.  I literally memorized every single word of Dirty Dancing and Grease.  I could watch both of them and say the script word for word as they played, lol.   This is my favorite song on the Grease soundtrack.
...he got friendly holding my hand, she got friendly down in the sand, he was sweet just turned eighteen, well she was good you know what I mean...

36.  Best Thing I Never Had : Beyonce

In life you can either be a part of the problem or a part of the solution, and anytime you provoke hate and controversy between races, you are simply a part of the problem.  Period.  Beyonce's Super Bowl halftime show disappointed me beyond belief.  She could use her God given instrument to spread love and positivity and bring people together, instead she chose to do the opposite.  There are some of her songs that I have loved so much for so long, it simply didn't feel right not putting them in this list.  I'll probably no longer support her and listen to anything new, but I still love the ones that I've known and listened to for years.  This particular song not only resonates with me personally, but it's also one of my favorite videos as well.
...thank God you blew it, thank God I dodged a bullet......thank God I found the good in goodbye, I used to want you so bad, I'm so through with that, cause honestly you turned out to be the best thing I never had...

37.  Crimson and Clover : Tommy James & The Shondells

Some of the best music in the world was made decades ago, and this is one of my favorite older songs.  I had this on a burnt cd back when I drove a Hummer, and it takes me back to that time in my life whenever I hear it.  Looooooove.
...I wanna do everything, what a beautiful feeling...crimson and clover, over and over....

38.  Ignition (Remix) : R. Kelly

I bought a double cd set just for this song, one day while in Pikeville (KY) with David.  I had a brand new Toyota Camry and I played this the ENTIRE way home even though he didn't really care for the song, lol.  There's no denying how awesome this is.
...hot and fresh out the kitchen, mama rollin that body got every man in here wishin...

39. Young Americans : David Bowie

Another movie of my youth, 16 Candles, had this on the soundtrack and from the first chord I fell in love with it.  Soooooo good!  Definitely my favorite from Bowie.
...I heard the news today, oh boy....

40.  It's Not Over ('Til It's Over) : Starship

This song takes me back to still living at home, and I had burned a cd with this on it to play out at our pool.  It's all sunshine and blue water and lazy days spent on a float whenever I hear this.
...they play to win, we play for keeps...

41.  Ain't Even Done With the Night : John Cougar Mellencamp

I was a very little girl when my love affair with John Cougar Mellencamp began.  I used to say I wanted him to be my husband and I wanted Mick Jagger to be my daddy.  lol.  I had every LP John put out, and I would carry them around and kiss them.  I was SO in love.  This has to be one of his best, and it was actually playing when I was proposed to <3
...you've got your hands in my back pockets, and sam cooke's singin on the radio...

42.  Breathing : Lifehouse

Lifehouse is such a great band, yet I really don't ever hear anyone else mention them.  When they released this song I went straight out and bought their cd.  His smooth, sweet voice.  It seriously doesn't get much better than this song.
...cause I am hanging on every word you say and, even if you don't wanna speak tonight that's alright, alright with me...cause I want nothing more than to sit outside Heaven's door and listen to you breathing...

43.  Twist and Shout : The Beatles

Several people have remade this song, but it's the Beatles' version that I fell in love with when Ferris Bueller was belting it out on the back of a float going down Dearborn Street in Chicago.  This song could put anybody in a good mood!
...you know you twist little girl, you know you twist so fine, come on and twist a little closer, and let me know that you're mine...

44.  Midnight Train to Georgia : Gladys Knight & The Pips

When I was a little, little girl (like toddler size), my mom would put me up on the bed, put a record on, and dance me around the room.  I knew all of the lyrics to this song when I could barely talk.  I've literally loved this song my whole life.  Later on, in high school, there was this little diner down under the hill from our school where we would often go in the mornings before school started, and then again in the evenings after school had let out.  They had an old jukebox in there and I played this song every single time I went in :)
....I'd rather live in his world, than live without him in mine...

45.  Rocket Man : Elton John

Elton John is crazy talented.  So, so many of his songs are some of my favorites, but this one is without a doubt my favorite.  Often times this is what is playing through my earbuds while I'm cleaning around the house.
....and I think it's gonna be a long long time...

46.  Tequila Talkin' : Lonestar

From the very first time I heard this song I fell in love with it.  One of those classic country songs that never gets old no matter how many times you hear it.
...I called about that conversation, that I had with you last night...if I said I'm still in love with you, it was just the tequila talkin'...

47.  Always On My Mind : Elvis Presley

I'll never forget laying in bed one night and catching a movie on VH1 called Elvis and Me.  I've always been such a huge fan of The King, so I of course watched it.  At the main end of the movie they played this song and showed actual footage of Elvis' funeral procession, home videos, photos of him and his wife and daughter, that sort of thing.  I cried till I couldn't breathe.  This song is gut-wrenching, in the most beautiful way possible.  Elvis had a sorrow about him that was palpable.  This song is so powerful.
....maybe I didn't hold you all those lonely, lonely times, and I guess I never told you I'm so happy that you're mine...if I made you feel 2nd best, girl I'm sorry I was blind...but you were always on my mind, you were always on my mind...

48.  Burning Love : Elvis Presley

And then he had this little number that wasn't so sad.  Burning Love is such a great song, pop this puppy on in the car and it's a full on jam session.
...girl, girl, girl you gonna set me on fire...

49.  Baby, I Need Your Lovin : The Four Tops

I told you I loved me some oldies.  I've always loved this, but it makes me think of one of my favorite books/movies, The Secret Life of Bees, starring one of my favorite actresses, Dakota Fanning.
...baby I need your loving, got to have all your loving...

50.  I Think We're Alone Now : Tiffany

4th grade Erica was flat out obsessed with this song.  Me and my friends sung this day in and day out.
...trying to get away into the night, and then you put your arms around me and we tumble to the ground and then you say, I think we're alone now...

51.  California Love : Dr. Dre and Tupac
No favorites song list is complete without a little Hip/Hop, Gangsta Rap, whatever you wanna call it. This is one of the BEST.
....now let me welcome everybody to the wild wild west...

52.  Adrienne : The Calling

This song though!  The raw emotion and the way he says her name, oh my gawd.  This was also on my burnt cd I played out by the pool at home.  I would play this song so loudly that when I went underwater I could still hear it.  Ahhhh.
...I gave you all I had to give, but I could never reach you...

53.  Just One Look : Doris Troy

There's just something about this era of music that I simply adore.  I had kind of forgotten this song even existed 'til I watched Crazy Stupid Love.  Ryan Gosling was crazy stupid HOT in that movie and I can still picture him putting the record on and how good it sounded.  LOVE.
...just one look, and I fell so ha-aa-aaaard in love...with you...

54.  If You Leave Me Now : Chicago

I fell in love with this song when it was on Sex and the City.  SATC is one of my favorite shows, I have watched it all the way through like a billion times.  This song was on the episode where Carrie went to the prom with Stanford.  I can remember her gushing about how much she loved the song when it came on, and then her twisting around dancing to it while sipping her cup of punch as the episode ended.  Perfect.
...how could we end it all this way...

55.  December, 1963 (Oh What a Night) : Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons

I love any song that mentions December in it, as it's my birth month.  I have loved this one since early childhood!
...why'd it take so long to see the light, seemed so wrong but now it seems so right, what a lady what a night...

56.  You Are : Lionel Ritchie

This song is great, but the reason I love it so much is because it makes me think of my mama.  Whenever it would come on the radio she would sing it like she was performing it.  She really stresses certain words in it...you are the sun, you are the rain, that makes my life this foolish game...you need to know, I love you so, and I'd do it all again and again...
So sweet.

57.  Celebration : Kool & The Gang

This is the perfect song to play at a wedding reception or some other event where you want everybody up and dancing.  I can't sit still and listen to this.
....it's time to come together, it's up to you what's your pleasure, everyone around the world, come on...

58.  Different Drum : Linda Ronstadt and The Stone Poneys

My best friend growing up was my friend Tracy.  We literally lived together, if I wasn't at her house she was at mine, and vice versa.  Her dad built a building out on their property that we would go and play in, and our favorite thing to do was put oldies on the radio and dance around the room.  This one was always my favorite.
....we'll both live a lot longer, if you live without me...

59.  Sometimes : Britney Spears

I can still remember when this was released.  Honey chile it was like we had never heard music before.  This makes me think of being in nursing school with my friend Carrie, her behind the wheel of her red Eclipse and us belting this out like we were performing in a concert.
...sometimes I run sometimes I hide, sometimes I'm scared of you, but all I really want is to hold you tight, treat you right, be with you day and night...

60.  I Want You Back : Jackson 5

As long as I can remember, this has been one of my favorite songs.  I absolutely love the beat, it has always been such a standout in music to me.
...all I want....all I need...all I want...all I neeeeeeeeeeed....

61.  I'll Try : Alan Jackson

One of the sweetest, simplest love songs of life.
...here we are, talkin' bout forever...

62.  From a Distance : Alan Jackson

This was the cover of the tape that I bought just for this song.  Me and my friend Tracy, the one I used to dance around her building with, we were so in love with this song.  This wasn't ever one of his biggest hits, but it certainly should have been.
...and from a distance I can see you, dancing slowly with somebody new, but I can't hold you like I want to, but I can love you...from a distance...

63.  So Help Me Girl : Joe Diffie

Another one of my favorite country songs of life.  I actually seen Joe Diffie at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN and I was so hoping he would sing this one.  He didn't, but it was still a great performance.
...so help me girl, you've gone too far, it's way too late to save my heart...the way it feels each time we touch, I know I've never been so loved...and I can't help myself so help me girl....

64.  Canon In D : Pachelbel

The only music in the world that is so beautiful it makes me want to weep.  The violin and the piano together are magic.

65.  Janie's Got a Gun : Aerosmith

I don't know what it is, but I have always flat out loved this song.  VERY favorite part, the 4:25 mark and on.
...janie's got a gun, everybody is on the run...

66.  If You Think You're Lonely Now : K-Ci Hailey

Oh....my....goodness.  Words can't describe how crazy I went over this song!  Me and my cousin Whitney watched this movie and it was on like Donkey Kong after that.  I went straight out and got the cd and kept it on repeat for forever.
....if you think you're lonely now, wait until tonight girl...

67.  All My Life : K-Ci and JoJo
How sweet is this song???  The radio stations played it to death, yet I still never got tired of hearing it.
...and you are the only one, my everything, and for you this song I sing...

68.  Same Old Lang Syne - Dan Fogelberg

I've said this for as long as I can remember, the BEST lyrics in a song ever.  It's a complete story and you can picture it clear as a bell, start to finish.  I always listen to this during the holidays, it's utter perfection.  I also really love the saxophone solo of Auld Lang Syne at the end.  If you've never heard this then please, please take the time to do so.
...the beer was empty and our tongues were tired, and running out of things to say....she gave a kiss to me as I got out, and I watched her drive away...just for a moment I was back at school, and felt that old familiar pain...and as I turned to make my way back home, the snow turned into rain...

69.  Daughter : Pearl Jam

Picture it, the 90's, grunge scene, all the teen angst and mess.  This was the soundtrack to that time of my life, lol.  Well, that and Buffalo Tom, of course.
....the picture kept will remii-iiiind me....

70.  Crazy For You : Madonna

Another classic movie of my childhood was Desperately Seeking Susan which actually starred Madonna.  Madonna was so popular at this time and my favorite song she had out was this one.
...slowly now we begin to move, every breath I'm deeper into you...

71.  Don't Look Back in Anger : Oasis

Ahh...another favorite from my high school days.  Oasis had a few hits during that time, but this one stood out from the others to me.
...take me to the place where you go, where nobody knows if it's night or day...

72.  All Through the Night : Cyndi Lauper

You simply couldn't have grown up in the 80's without loving at least one Cyndi Lauper song.  The catchy beat, her classic voice, it's all just perfect on this one.
...we have no past we won't reach back, keep with me forward all through the night...

73.  Wild Wild Life : Talking Heads

I can still remember the video for this song, even though I was only in 1st grade when it was released.  I'm a huge fan of the sitcom Roseanne, and Dan Conner is one of my favorite TV characters of all time.  Kind of neat that he was in the video.
...like sitting on pins and needles, things fall apart, it's scientific....sleeping on the interstate uh-oh...

74.  Wild Wild West : Will Smith

And sometimes you love a song just cause it sounds so darn good.  This one makes me want to get up and dance.
...any damsel that's in distress be outta that dress when she meets Jim West...

75.  Love Hurts : Nazareth

We were introduced to Nazareth in high school and I remember everybody and their brother loved Love Hurts.  The guitar solo is my favorite guitar solo of life.  So emotionally beautiful.
....Love hurts, love scars, love wounds and marks, any heart not tough or strong enough...

76.  Rock Your Body : Justin Timberlake

This song had just come out while I was in Louisville a couple of weeks for job training when I worked for the state.  I can remember cruising the 8 lanes of traffic to and from my trainings everyday, bumpin the whole way jammin to this little number.  Another fabulous song to play in the car.
...gonna have you naked by the end of this song...

77.  Check On It : Beyonce

Sasha Fierce might be Beyonce's alter ego, but Beyonce has always been my alter ego.  (Until the Super Bowl debacle that is).  My favorite #1 song to be played at an event where everyone is supposed to be up dancing.  This comes on and out comes my inner Beyonce, and it's on.
...if you got it flaunt it, boy I know you want it...

78.  One More Night : Phil Collins

There's just something about this song, I can't get enough of it.  I adore his sweet soft voice.  So emotional.
...like a river to the sea I will always be with you, and if you sail away I will follow you...

79.  Sharing the Night Together : Dr. Hook

Dr. Hook always makes me think of my late grandfather, he was such a big fan of theirs.  I've loved this song since before I was even old enough to know what he was talking about, lol.  So.  Good.
...would you like to dance with me and hold me, you know I wanna be holding you...

80.  Somebody's Doin' Me Right : Keith Whitley

Keith Whitley, a fellow Kentuckian and one of the BEST country music artists of all time.  I love ALL of his music, but this is my favorite by him.  His voice, the music, it's all just perfect.
...and the reason just might be, you're so good to me...

81.  These Dreams : Heart

Their powerful voices give me chills in this!  If I could sing, oh my goodness it would be on!
...every second of the night, I live another life...

82.  Pinch Me : Barenaked Ladies

Kind of a random song, but so good!  I love the way he sings the end of every verse, when his voice gets a little higher <3
...it's colder than it looks outside...
....sleep away the afternoon...
...all my stuff's here anyway...

83.  Into the Mystic : Van Morrison

I could have put so many songs by Van Morrison on this list.  His music will go down in history for being some of the best.  The peaceful rhythm, his soothing voice.  Put this on and I guarantee it'll put you at ease.
....smell the sea and feel the sky, let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic...

84.  Angel : Shaggy

This song just makes you happy, and makes you want to sing along.  I love the reggae beat, Shaggy's deep voice, everything about it.
...she was there through my incarceration, I wanna show the nation my appreciation...

85.  Dilemma : Nelly and Kelly Rowland

Words cannot describe how in love with this song I used to be.  The very first time I ever heard this I was headed home after working the nightshift at the hospital.  As soon as it came on I fell in LOVE.  This was in the days before satellite radio, I was just listening to the local FM station.  I listened as hard as I could to see if I could tell who was singing it, as I was approaching the turnoff beside of Walmart and if I could tell who it was I was gonna swing in there and buy it IMMEDIATELY.  It got to the part where Kelly says "Nelly, I love you" and that second I flipped on my signal and turned to go in Walmart.  Nelly had just released a new cd and I scanned the back of it and seen there was a duo he had with Kelly Rowland on it.  I took a chance and bought the cd and was SO happy when I got back in the car and it was the right song.  I hadn't been dating David very long, so this also takes me back to the beginning of our relationship.  He would come over to my mom's and I would put this in the boom box out by the pool and we would swim for hours with this on repeat.
...east coast you still shakin' right, down south I know you bouncin' right...

86.  By Your Side : Sade

The first time I ever heard this song was when I was watching Sex and the City.  They played it on the episode where Samantha and Richard slow danced out by the pool.  So romantic and sweet, it was love at first sound!  I adore that show and it will always be something I re-watch and look back on fondly.  And this song always makes me think of that show and those four girls in the Big Apple that I love so much.
...Oh, when you're cold, I'll be there, hold you tight to me...

87.  I'll Be Missing You : Puff Daddy and Faith Evans

Was I the only person who fell butt-crazy in love with this song when it came out?  Me and my cousin Whitney were all about hip-hop during the whole Tupac vs. Biggie, East coast vs. West coast era, and we were all about his song.  I loveeeeee the beat, and I love the mix of Puff Daddy's voice with Faith Evans.  So darn good.
....give anything to hear half your breath...

88.  Why Can't This Be Love : Van Halen

While I do like some of their stuff with David Lee Roth, I definitely like the Sammy Hagar stuff better.  We went to Washington, D.C. and to New York City on  my senior trip, and this song takes me back to that trip so vividly.  We slept on the bus on our way to New York, and one of my friends had a mixed tape that the bus driver played for us.  This was one of the songs that played, and I remember waking up a couple of times during the middle of the night and hearing this, so excited about getting to the city.  Life was just beginning.
...no I can't recall any love at all, baby this blows them all away...

89.  Right Now : Van Halen

Another great song by such an awesome band.  Not only did I totally love this song, but this is also one of my favorite videos of all time.  My favorite "right now" moment was the oyster one.  Right now, oysters are being robbed of their sole possession.
...(right now) Hey! it's your tomorrow (right now) come on, it's everything, catch your magic moment....

90.  Tonight : New Kids on the Block

NKOTB was life when I was a kid.  Me and all my friends were so in love with them.  So much a part of my childhood, their music immediately takes me back to the days of pegged jeans and big bangs, me in my denim jacket with my huge/mega NKOTB badge pinned to the front lapel.  Good times, peeps.  This was their best.
...see the girls with the curls in the hair, the buttons and the pins and the loud fanfares...

91.  Hot in the City : Billy Idol

I first fell in love with this song when it played as Tom Hanks hung out the top of a limousine in the movie Big.  This will always be one of my FAVORITE songs to play in the car, it's just so good!  My favorite part is towards the end when he screams New York!
...cause when a long-legged lovely walks by, yeah you can see the look in her eye...

92.  American Saturday Night : Brad Paisley

Brad Paisley is one of my favorite country artists today.  This is my favorite one he's ever done, and again, I love the part at the end when it says...live from New York!
...she's got brazilian leather boots on the pedal of her German car...

93.  Memphis Soul Song : Uncle Kracker

I remember being out on the town on a double date one night, and me and the other girl were sitting in a little pub while the guys were off a little ways gambling.  This song came on and it just sounded so good.  It was a fun, lighthearted night and this song takes me right back to it.  Another great song I never hear anyone mention.
...in all my travels I've never found a way, to find the words that say the things I'd like to say...I've sang some melodies but she's my favorite one, she moves me like a Memphis soul song...

94.  Goodbye Earl : Dixie Chicks

One of my FAVORITE songs to sing to!  It's just so fun!  I know it word for word and love to sing it loud.
...well it wasn't two weeks after she got married that Wanda started gettin' abused, she put on dark glasses and long sleeved blouses and makeup to cover a bruise...well she finally got the nerve to file for divorce and she let the law take it from there, but Earl walked right through that restraining order and put her in intensive care...

95.  You Look So Good in Love : George Strait

The best country song in history.  It doesn't get anymore romantic than this.
....oh how you sparkle and oh how you shine, that flush on your cheeks is more than the wine...

96.  The Woman in Me : Shania Twain

I've always loved Shania Twain.  I have seen her in concert in Vegas a couple of times, and she actually came up to me in the audience and we sang together.  A moment I will never forget!  This song is my favorite she's ever done.  She's stunning in the video - definitely one of the prettiest videos I've ever seen.  I love her flowy dress, the silhouette, the pyramids and all the horses.  My favorite part of the song is the very last part where she says "I need you, baby."
...cause I'm a woman in love and it's you I run to, yeah the woman in me needs the man in you...

97.  Mrs. Steven Rudy - Mark McGuinn

I loved this song so much when it first came out!  Such a cute beat and I love the lyrics.  100% adorable.
...Mrs. Steven Rudy, the neighborhood beauty...that wedding ring's as ugly to me as your husband is to you...

98.  Crazy Crazy Nights - KISS

I worked for a number of years at a psychiatric hospital and in our office we always kept a radio playing on a local FM station.  They played this quite a bit and me and my friend/co-worker Dawn always loved when they played this.  SO good and always makes me think of that time in my life and of her <3
...they say they can break you again and again, if life is a radio turn up to ten...

99.  Over When It's Over - Eric Church

Eric Church is another one of my favorites in country music.  I love SO many of his songs and it was hard to pick, but I think this one has to be my favorite.
...yeah it's a flat line, it's a heart attack, yeah it's too far gone to be shocked back, it's a one way with nowhere to turn, it's a no breaks, baby, crash and burn...

100.  Turn Your Lights Down Low - Megan Joy

This is actually an old Bob Marley tune.  I hadn't ever heard this song until Megan Joy performed it back in 2008 on the 8th season of American Idol.  I remember the judges were not crazy about her performance, but I fell in LOVE with it.  I have since heard the Bob Marley version, but it's Megan's that I love.  So incredibly sexy.  A perfect song for two lovers in love to dance to.
...I wanna give you some love, I wanna give you some good, good lovin'....

And there you have it, the soundtrack to my life.  The best of the best, each one of them so meaningful and memorable.  I would love for you to tell me what songs mean the most to you and why.  Music is so much a part of who we are, and I can't wait to hear what new songs will impact me in ways these all have.

  1. The food at this place was delicious. The menu options we had at this place were great (it was hard to choose) and one course was better than the next. It was great that these Seattle Wedding venues had different options for those who didn't eat what we served.
