Vanity Spring Cleaning & Makeup Purge!

Hey guys!  It's funny, cleaning out your vanity and getting rid of makeup you don't use is almost as satisfying as buying new makeup to fill it with.  Over the weekend I went through my makeup collection and pulled out several things that I didn't use this year.  I am going to be passing the majority of the stuff along to my mom/aunts/granny/etc., but some of it I had no choice but to throw in the garbage.  I do not feel the need to just hoard makeup just for the sake of being able to say I own it.  I want my vanity to be full of things I love, things I happily reach for, things that I enjoy using.  If I have to make myself use something I don't want it in my collection.  Why use things that you have to make yourself use when you have plenty of stuff that you actually love?
After I got rid of what I wanted to I cleaned and disinfected everything really good.  Felt so nice on Sunday morning getting ready for church!

The newly cleaned and organized vanity area <3

This drawer of liners was about 2-3 layers deep.  Ugh.  When you get so many you end up reaching for the same 2 or 3 all of the time because it's just too much of a hassle to go through it all.

I got rid of about 15 liners.  Some of these have never been used!  I still have a ton, but that did thin it out some.

My cleaned up mascara drawer.  These are just the mascaras I have in rotation.  I have a drawer in my Alex 9-Drawer chest that I keep new/unopened mascaras in.

Various primers, mascaras, setting sprays that I tossed in the garbage.  Either completely used up, dried up, or too old to pass along.

Various brow gels, lipsticks, eyeliners, etc. that I don't use.
I love Anastasia Clear Brow Gel, but I just don't enjoy the tinted ones.  The L'Oreal lipstick in Fairest Nude is so pretty, but I simply cannot stand the smell of a L'Oreal lipstick.  YUCK.  It would be okay if you put it on and the smell dissipated after a while, but ooh I can smell these as long as I'm wearing them and I despise it.  Hated to see it go, but I simply cannot wear this stuff.

Various lip balms and glosses that I don't wear.  The Nars one I wore a ton, it's just really old and probably needs to go at this point.

I have a ton of these and these two shades in particular are just too pale for me.  If you are a medium or darker skin tone, I just don't think it looks good to wear super pale lip colors.  Totally not a fan of that look, so I will pass these along to someone paler than me.

These Tarte lip glosses came in a holiday set year before last.  I used a couple of them a few times, but the majority of them have never been used.  With stuff like this there's just too many and it's overwhelming.  I like to get like one lip gloss with something and I'm much more likely to use it.

Stila is probably my favorite highend eyeshadow brand ever.  But, the shadows in this little palette just weren't the quality I was expecting.  They're definitely usable and I think someone who doesn't have a ton of makeup like I do might really enjoy this.  It's just that I have oodles of palettes that I actually really love so I never reach for this.

Again, various eyeshadows I simply don't use.  Going to pass these along to some folks that don't have as much makeup who could really benefit from having these.

I used to be obsessed with these eyeshadows from Victoria's Secret!  I bought these several years ago and some of them are still sealed.  I bought backups of backups, lol.  After I started accumulating more and more makeup I simply stopped reaching for them.  VS actually has some really great makeup.

Some blushes and a bronzer.  I actually like the NYC Sunny bronzer, but I had 2 in my collection.  I almost never reach for this, but I did keep one (for now) to see if I will use it.  If I don't reach for it the next few months I am going to pass it along as well.

If you follow my blog at all then you know I am NOT a false eyelash gal.  Both of these came in some sort of subscription service box or bag, and I just need them gone.  I live in small-town USA and I would just feel silly popping these on to go to Walmart or what have you.  I'm a simple girl with a simple life and I don't feel the need for false lashes on the daily.  Maybe for a special occasion, so I do have 3 or 4 sets of really nice ones should I ever want to try a set.  But other than that I have no use for falsies in my stash.

I even went through allllllllllllllllll these perfume samples and weeded out the ones I don't like.  I love perfume and these little guys are the only things I use for travel.  I'll take like 8 or 10 of these with me at a time, as I love having options! I love to smell good all of the time, so I use these at home as well. When I'm fresh out of the shower I always put perfume on.  I also really love to put it on before bed.  Smells so nice when you roll over during the night.  Every night when I'm getting ready for bed and I put on my perfume I think of Marilyn Monroe and of my grandmother.  For Marilyn, when asked what she wore to bed she replied, "Why, Chanel No. 5 of course."  And then with my grandmother, she always wore perfume to bed and I can remember my mom telling me that my late grandfather used to tell her, "Going to bed with you is like going to bed with a movie star."
<3

The ones I passed along.

If you are really into makeup then I highly recommend periodically going through your collection and weeding out things that are just in there taking up space.  Feels so good to pass stuff along that others want or need!  Have a great week everybody!!!
