February 2016 Target & Drugstore Haul!

Hey guys!  I recently picked up a few things from Target and at the drugstore and thought I would share them with you and let you know what I think of them.  I haven't used some of these yet, but I have used several and if I can I will give you a brief review.

I was so excited to see Maybelline release an eyeshadow primer!  There are actually 3 varieties of this:  prime and illuminate, prime and matte, and the prime and smooth.  I chose the prime and smooth, and I have to say, I'm not super impressed.  I do have oily lids so I probably should have went with the prime and matte one.  This is okay, but definitely not the shadow primer I reach for most often.

The Maybelline Color Tattoos are some of my favorite eyeshadows from the drugstore.  The one I had in Bad to the Bronze had dried up many moons ago so I went ahead and picked me up another one.  Just as gorgeous as I remembered!  Wear these alone or as a base for a bronze/gold shadow and they are stunning.  Love.

I honestly can't say how I feel about these guys yet.  I cracked them open to play around with them here at the house and I have to say, I wasn't impressed right off.  If you're unfamiliar with this product, it's basically a cream eyeshadow on one end of the tube, and then it has a glittery topper on the other end.  What I found in applying them is that the cream shadow was really patchy, and as you try to pat it with your fingertip or a brush it would basically remove almost all of the shadow.  Definitely one of the most difficult eye products I've ever worked with.  Then, once you get it applied, it dries really sticky.  You HAVE to be looking down the entire time this dries and sets, because if you glance up your lid will stick together all funky.  The glitter side is really pretty, but again, just kind of difficult to use.  I question why would I use these when I could simply brush on an easy shadow and go.  Doubtful these will get used, they're just too troublesome and time consuming, and I do not care for the tight feeling on my lid once the product sets.  I will probably play around with them more and see if I can perfect the way I apply them, cause they are really pretty.  Maybe with some tweaks in my application process I will like them better.  The two shades I chose were Topaz Twinkle and Desert Dazzle.

Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick, $5.59
The Creamy Matte lipsticks by Maybelline are HANDS DOWN my favorite lipsticks at the drugstore.  They are phenomenal.  I have several of the shades and I have been wanting to try this one in Vibrant Violet for so long, but it was sold out every time I was at the store.  I was finally able to snag one that hadn't been tampered with and I have to say, probably my favorite purple lipstick of life!  So gorgeous, so pretty on the lips.  If you like bright, purple lipsticks then picking this puppy up is a MUST. (You can thank me later).

Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lipcolor, $6.99
Everybody and their brother is jumping on the liquid lipstick bandwagon.  I actually really enjoy this one from Maybelline.  If you apply this the least bit thick then it is anything but matte.  It's literally glossy.  But, if you apply the thinest layer possible this does have a much more matte appearance.  My favorite way to apply this is to put the thinnest layer possible, blot, then apply the thinnest layer possible again. This never does dry down to where it's transfer resistant, there's always a give to it when you rub your lips together, which is a major plus for me.  It's super comfortable and it doesn't aggravate me to wear it.  I personally love it!  Gorgeous.
Mine is in the shade Rebel Red.
(Wearing Rebel Red)

The drugstore has really upped their game on brow products.  Even just about a year or so ago there was so little to choose from, but it seems like every brand is releasing more products and they seem to be getting better and better.  This double-ended pen from Maybelline is actually really good.  One end is a pencil and one end is a shadow.  The pen is super pigmented and it actually stays pretty good.  I don't think it has Brow Wiz staying power, but it is much better than Maybelline's previous brow liner.  To be thrifty I kind of go over my whole brow with this first and then I top it with a light layer of the Brow Wiz.  Works perfectly!

L'Oreal Paris Brow Stylist Definer, $7.99
Since I don't wear makeup everyday I haven't tried this yet, but I hear a lot of good things about it.  It is supposed to be as good as the Brow Wiz, so we will see.  I got mine in the shade Brunette, and I will be trying it today for the first time.  I'll keep you posted!

While this product is a little expensive for drugstore prices, it is totally worth it.  I have used this in the past an have been meaning to pick up a new bottle for forever now.  This is my favorite drugstore primer hands down.  It fills in your pores better than anything else I have found at the drugstore.  It reminds me a lot of the Smashbox Pore Minimizing primer.  Love and highly recommend!

I have used this a few times and I have to say, I don't really notice it doing a lot.  It is super watery and runny, and it doesn't feel mattifying at all.  After applying this it actually feels like a moisturizer.  Weird.  I will play around with it some more before handing out a final verdict.

Swisspers Cotton Rounds
I bought this mega pack at Walmart.  I use these for everything - to remove eye makeup, to remove nail polish, for facial toners, you name it.  I go through them fairly quickly so when I can I buy this big boy.

Pond's Luminous Clean Wet Cleansing Towelettes, $4.69
My favorite makeup removing wipes ever.  This particular one in the pink packaging, the Luminous Clean version, is getting harder and harder to find.  I think it has been discontinued.  But, I enjoy the Original Clean ones in the blue packaging just as much.  Super great quality, they don't burn my eyes, and they work really well for removing face makeup.  Highly recommend!

L'Oreal Paris Root Cover Up, $9.99
It's about time somebody released something like this!  It's a temporary gray concealer spray for your roots to touch up until you have time to color.  I got mine in Dark Brown, but it comes in several different shades from light blonde to red to black and more.  I don't need it just yet, but as someone who goes 4 months or so before I break down and cover my gray, I think this will be super handy.

Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water, $6.99
I am SUPER loyal to my Bioderma, it is the best eye makeup remover in the world.  I have EXTREMELY sensitive eyes and it is the best for not irritating them.  Garnier just released their Micellar water here in the States and it is supposed to be comparable to the Bioderma.  Bioderma is a French product and there's not too many places you can find it, and it's more than double the price of this product.  I haven't used this yet (but I will tonight), but if it works similarly to the Bioderma that would be so handy for me!  Here's hoping <3

Dr. Teal's Foaming Bath, $4.49
Dr. Teal's has got it going on.  I adore their Epsom salts and this bubble bath is so lovely!  This huge jug is less than 5 bucks and it works amazingly well.  It foams and bubbles perfectly, and the Epsom salts are excellent for tired/achy muscles.  My favorite bubble bath!!!!!
(I have found this at Target and Walmart).

Gillette Endurance Ultimate Fresh Clear Gel Deodorant, $3.99
Yes, I bought a men's deodorant.  I do that quite often actually, they seem to just work better.  I have found over time that I am a huge fan of clear gel deodorants and this one works so well!  Deodorants are just a personal preference, some prefer the cream or solid ones, I just prefer this kind.  If you've been looking for a good deodorant then try your hand at a men's one.  Not all of them smell manly, and usually they perform better.  I really like these Gillette Endurance ones and the Old Spice in Wolfthorn.

Alright guys, that's it for now!  Hope you enjoyed and hope this gives you some ideas on some new products you might want to try.  Let me know what you've been loving.
